Full-time certified teachers from public, parochial, or private schools may shop for free if a high percentage of their students participate in the free or reduced price lunch program. Currently C2C serves 195 eligible schools in 15 counties of Greater Cincinnati.
What if a teacher is not eligible to shop?
Any other teacher may earn a shopping trip at C2C if he or she volunteers at the store for three hours. For more information, click here to go to the Teachers page.
Can I claim a tax deduction for my donation?
In most cases, businesses and individuals can claim donations as charitable contributions, but you should rely on the advice of your tax advisor. Click here to go to the Donations page.
How do I get to Crayons to Computers?
From I-71 or I-75, take Norwood Lateral (OH-562) to the Reading Road exit. Turn south off of the exit. Go to the first intersection, which is Tennessee Avenue, and turn right. Crayons to Computers is the second driveway on the right.
What items are most needed?
Teachers always need basic school supplies such as pencils, pens, markers, crayons, glue, scissors, and notebook filler paper. Teachers are very creative and use products that you might never imagine in a classroom. Check our Wish List for specifics.
Are there any items C2C does not accept?
Yes. We can only accept items which will fit into the back seat of a teacher's car.
Does C2C provide a pick-up service for donations?
We have a limited ability to pick up donations. Therefore, we request that donors arrange for delivery or drop off contributions at our store.
How is C2C funded?
C2C is funded solely through generous donations from the community, including corporations, businesses, foundations, and individuals. We are not publicly funded, nor do we receive any funding from the United Way.
What are the shopping hours for teachers?
C2C is open for shopping Monday - Thursday when school is in session. Our shopping hours are 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. (All shoppers must check in by 5:45 p.m.). Eligible schools are permitted to shop once every four weeks (according to their shopping schedule). Teachers who volunteer on Saturday mornings (8:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.) shop afterwards.
Are there any limits for shoppers?
Yes. Many items are limited to ensure that merchandise is fairly distributed to all schools and their students. Those items are clearly marked with the maximum quantities allowed.
How much is a shopping trip worth?
During the 2007/2008 academic year, teachers took an average of $498 worth of supplies back to the classroom for each shopping trip.
Can students volunteer at C2C for community service hours?
