What is Crayons to Computers’ Endowment Fund?
The Endowment Fund of Crayons to Computers (C2C) will receive and manage gifts and bequests to further C2C’s continuing purpose through both the perpetual and immediate support and enhancement of C2C. Unlike other giving campaigns, the Endowment Fund will build a solid foundation for the future of C2C in order to enhance its mission.
How Will the Fund’s Assets Be Used?
The Fund’s assets will be applied to the development and expansion of programs that benefit C2C directly. Funds from the Endowment may be a source of capital and could be used to cover operating costs when needed.
Who Manages the Fund?
The Endowment Fund is managed by RiverPoint Capital Management under the direction of C2C’s Endowment Committee. The Endowment Committee must abide by the Fund’s Gift Acceptance Policies and Disbursement Policies. Assets will be invested in accordance with The Endowment Fund’s Investment Policy.
How Does One Make a Gift?
C2C can receive many forms of gifts and bequests involving almost any kind of asset contingent upon approval of the acceptance of certain types of gifts. A few of the more common ways to give are:
Outright Gifts as defined in the Gift Acceptance Policy
- Cash
- Securities, such as stocks, bonds and other securities. Gifts of appreciated stocks and bonds (including U.S. Savings Bonds) often provide significant tax advantages for the donor.
- Life insurance policies. Donors may purchase a new policy or donate an existing policy with the Fund as owner or beneficiary.
Granting the Fund a Remainder or Beneficiary Interest in:
- Charitable Remainder Trusts
- Charitable Lead Trusts
- Retirement plans, IRAs, 401(k)s or Savings Accounts.
Gifts Through a Will or Trust
- Will. You may make a gift to the Fund of any property through your will. This permits you to specify the nature and extent of a gift that will be made upon your death. Without a will, the State will determine how your assets are distributed.
- Trust. Through a trust you may give to the Fund during your lifetime and/or upon your death.
- Stewardship Flexibility. Both wills and trusts can serve as a final opportunity for you to practice good stewardship of your assets. Both wills and trusts allow you the flexibility of making:
- Specific gifts of a stated dollar amount, a percentage of your estate, or a specific piece of property.
- Residuary gifts of property remaining after your specific gifts are made.
All gifts (other than cash) are subject to acceptance by the Gift Acceptance Committee. Cash donations should be made to “Crayons to Computers” through the C2C office. All other gifts should be made by contacting Heather Egan, Development Director.
Can I Make My Gift in Memory of Someone?
Gifts of any kind can be made in memory or honor of someone. Prospective donors to the Fund are encouraged to discuss their wishes regarding such a gift with Heather Egan, Development Director, before making a final decision.
Are there Tax Advantages to Giving to the Fund?
There are tax advantages to making a gift to the Fund. The advantages that donors enjoy may depend on the amount and nature of the gift. Donors are encouraged to consult with their accountant or tax advisor.
